For Immediate Release: McDaniel homicide suspects arrested in Oklahoma
Yesterday morning, Springfield Police issued a national bulletin asking all law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for a silver Nissan Xterra presumably stolen during a recent homicide at 1623 E. McDaniel.
Early yesterday afternoon, an Oklahoma State Trooper was patrolling I-35, about seven miles north of the Texas border when he drove through a rest stop parking lot. The vehicle driven by the trooper was equipped with license plate recognition hardware that allows the vehicle to scan all nearby license plates for criminal connections. As the trooper drove through the lot, his car alerted him to the presence of the silver Xterra stolen during the homicide in Springfield, MO.
The trooper approached the two subjects sitting near the vehicle and, after a short conversation, placed them under arrest on Probable Cause for Vehicle Tampering.
Springfield Detectives have been sent to Oklahoma and are in the process of conducting interviews with the two suspects reference the death of Jason Isenbletter. Due to information learned up to this point, the Greene County Prosecutor has filed charges for 2nd Degree Murder against the two, identified as Christopher Coleman (DOB 7/29/82) and Matthew Jennings (DOB 11/16/72), both of Springfield. Bond is set at $500,000 for each suspect.
There is no additional information available for release at this time.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing and Police are actively working all available leads. Police encourage any witnesses to call 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous report at 869-TIPS (Crime Stoppers). If information given leads to the conviction of a suspect, a cash award may be considered for the tipster.
