For Immediate Release: Springfield Police Officers locate methamphetamine lab

The Springfield Police Narcotics Unit discovered a large methamphetamine lab at 2326 N. Kellett late Thursday evening while serving a search warrant for illegal narcotics.

Working from a tip, narcotics officers served a search warrant at the residence and discovered a working methamphetamine lab. Numerous items were seized used in the manufacture and production of methamphetamine. Officers also seized narcotic paraphernalia and an amount of finished methamphetamine.

Both adult residents were arrested for the manufacture and possession of methamphetamine. Also located in the residence were 4 children ranging from age 2–12 years old. The children were taken into protective custody and taken to a local hospital for examination and released to child protective services.

The two persons arrested were:
Chiasson, Gary –  41 years of age.
Chiasson, Amanda – 31 years of age.

Charges have not been filed for manufacturing narcotics at this time. The Greene County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case for presentation of additional charges after lab analyses are completed.
