For Immediate Release: Springfield Police wrap up "Click It or Ticket" campaign

Statistics prove high visibility from law enforcement leads to a positive change in driver behavior. In light of that fact, Springfield Police participated in a statewide Click It or Ticket campaign from May 19 to June 1, 2008. During that time period, two extra officers per day worked crash-prone areas to increase seat belt usage. At the end of the campaign, officers had stopped a total of 389 vehicles. Out of those vehicle stops, officers wrote 253 tickets for hazardous moving violations, 143 seatbelt tickets and 6 citations for no child restraint.

Police participation in the campaign was paid for by the Missouri Safety Center.
