For Immediate Release: Springfield Police investigate seventh homicide of the year
Early this morning, at around 12:30 a.m., Springfield Police went to 2540 N Delaware to investigate a "shots fired" call. As officers searched the area, they found a deceased person later identified as Raymond Kahlid, a 20 year old male black from Kansas City, MO. Kahlid's body was found outside in a common area of the apartment complex.
Initial investigation showed at least one wound on Kahlid's body consistent with a gunshot, however the exact cause of death is yet to be determined.
Police have interviewed many neighbors who heard the gunshot and are currently working on identifying a suspect or number of suspects.
There is no additional information available for release at this time.
Police encourage any witnesses with information about the incident to call 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous report at 417-869-TIPS (Crime Stoppers). If information given leads to an arrest, a cash award may be considered for the tipster.
