For Immediate Release: Subject found dead on South Avenue; one suspect arrested

An adult male was found dead in the apartment complex located at 727 South Avenue last night. Shortly after 11:00 p.m., a subject named Darryl Vest contacted the occupants of #10, saying a male subject had been injured and was lying in the courtyard of the complex. A phone call was made to 911 to relay that information. Police and emergency medical personnel arrived quickly but found the subject had died from his injuries.

Initial investigation has shown the possible cause of death to be blunt force trauma, however an official declaration has yet to be made.

After collecting evidence from the scene and speaking with numerous residents and possible witnesses, police arrested Vest for 2nd Degree Murder.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing and Police are actively working on all available leads. Police encourage any witnesses to call 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous report at 869-TIPS (Crime Stoppers).  If information given leads to the conviction of a suspect, a cash award may be considered for the tipster.

An informal press conference is planned for 10:15 a.m. at Police Headquarters (321 E Chestnut Exp) to discuss the case.
