Denny Whayne was elected as Zone 1 Councilman in April of 2001and re-elected in April 2005.
He currently serves on the Finance and Administration Committee
and the Public Involvement Committee.
Denny, a Springfield businessman, has been a resident of Springfield
for 48 years. He previously worked for the City of Springfield
as well as owned and operated his own business.
Denny attended Southwest Missouri State University and the Oklahoma
School of Accounting in Tulsa, OK, where he studied Real Estate
and Accounting.
Denny’s civic and professional affiliations have included
Board Member at the Boys and Girls Club, Minority Affairs Committee
Member for the Springfield Public Schools, City Utilities Advisory
Board Member, Springfield Community Center Board Member, Boyd-Berry
Site Committee Member, United Way Committee Member, Drury University/
Washington Avenue Baptist Acquisition Committee Member, and Community
Development Block Grant Advisory Board Member.
Denny attends and is active at the Washington Avenue Baptist Church.
He has five children.
