Summer hours (Daylight Savings Time): Tuesday - Saturday 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Winter hours: Tuesday - Saturday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The Lone Pine Recycling Center and Yardwaste Recycling Center are also open Sundays during fall peak leaf season and spring cleanup season. Call the Recycling Hotline at 864-1904 to verify Sunday hours.

Closed for the following holidays: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Recycling Center Locations:

  1. 731 N. Franklin
    Directions: Follow the signs from Broadway and Chestnut Expressway.
  2. 3020 S. Lone Pine
    Directions: One block south of Battlefield Road.
  3. 2525 W. College
    (Price Cutter parking lot)
  4. Adjacent to the Yardwaste Recycling Center
    Directions: West on Sunshine (Highway 60). Turn left (south) onto Farm Road 115. Turn left (east) on Farm Road 164. Follow signs.Or go west on James River Freeway to Sunshine (Highway 60). Turn right (east) onto Farm Road 115. Turn left onto Farm Road 164. Follow signs. See map.

Items Accepted:

  • Aluminum cans (no plastic bags, foil, pie pans, etc. please)
  • Tin
  • Glass (remove lids/rings)
  • Paper - Visit www.biggreenbin.com for types of paper accepted
  • Plastics #1-7 with some exceptions. See Plastics List (pdf 38kb)
  • Cardboard - corrugated only, no waxed cardboard; remove liners, packing materials, staples and tape; flatten.
  • Brush and yardwaste (not accepted at Location #3 Price Cutter parking lot) See details below.

Brush and Yardwaste Recycling at the Franklin and Lone Pine Recycling Centers:

Brush and yardwaste are accepted in limited quantities at the Lone Pine and Franklin Recycling Centers. Some restrictions apply:

  • Citizens bringing yardwaste from residences outside the city limits of Springfield are requested to pay honor system fees of $1/bag for grass/leaves and $1/bundle for brush
  • Bags of leaves/grass are based on 32-gallon trash bag.
  • Bundles of brush must be no more than 18" in diameter with branches less than 2" in diameter, cut no longer than 4' in length.
  • Grass/leaves are limited to no more than 10 bags per day.
  • Brush is limited to no more than two bundles per day.
  • No brush or yardwaste is accepted from commercial haulers or lawn services at the Lone Pine or Franklin Avenue Recycling Centers.
